About us

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 1995 with an objective to develop professionals through quality education. The Department offers B.E. programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M.E. programme in Applied Electronics with a vision to create a center of excellence for imparting technical expertise of the highest order and to provide career focused programme to produce globally competent professionals. Electronics-based products play a vital role in our daily lives, from the sophisticated diagnostic equipment used in modern hospitals to leading-edge fibre optic communications. Communication technology, Telecommunications and consumer electronics are advancing at an ever-increasing pace. The department creates engineers who lend their knowledge and expertise to work at the forefront of the communications industry, developing technologies for mobile, wireless and high-speed communication.

The excellent infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories on Analog digital circuits, VLSI design, Embedded systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, Medical Electronics, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Optical Communication, RF and Microwave Engineering, Antenna, MEMS and Satellite Communication provides students top class learning through software platforms such as Xilinx, Cadence, PSPICE, MATLAB, Network Simulator 2 (NS2) and hardware platforms such as Xilinx Altera FPGA’s, Embedded developer boards, ARM processors, DSP processors, 8051 controller, 8086 processor, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Anechoic chamber, Digital Communication kits to complement the state of art infrastructure, the department has competent and highly qualified faculty who possess both teaching and industrial experience.

HOD's Desk - Dr.K.ANNARAM

Dr. K. Annaram is Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Jerusalem College of Engineering, Chennai. She received B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M.E. in communication Systems from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 1999 and 2001 respectively. She received her Ph.D in Microwave Engineering from Anna University Chennai in 2010. She is one of the recognized research supervisors in Anna University, Chennai.

She has 15 years of research and teaching experience in the field of RF and Microwave Engineering. She taught several times RF and Microwave Engineering, RF system design and Microwave Circuits. She is a life member of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), IEEE, antenna Test and Measurement Society (ATMS). She was a research associate in RF system lab, ECE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai. She worked as a RF design Engineer in Quasar Innovations Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore and VXL Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata. She also served as Professor in Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology, Virdhunagar. She worked in various DRDO projects and industry consultancy projects in Thiagarajar Advanced Research Center (TARC), Thiagarajar a College of Engineering, Madurai.

She has published papers in several international journals, international and national conferences.
She has published two books titled “RF AND MICROWAVE ENGINEERING” & “TRANSMISSION LINES AND WAVEGUIDES”.

Mission of the Department
  • To equip the graduates to be competent with excellent knowledge through innovative teaching methods.
  • To promote relevant academic excellence through value added courses.
  • To train the graduates in qualitative and quantitative skills in research to meet the International Industrial standards.
  • To inculcate ethical values and social consciousness among the graduates to enrich themselves and also the community as a whole.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
  • PEO 1:
    Students will excel in academic, research and be industry ready graduates and dynamic entrepreneurs in the core platform of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  • PEO 2:
    Students will be inculcated with hardware and simulation tools which are required to identify, analyse and solve the problems in Electronics and Communication field.
  • PEO 3:
    Students will translate the acquired skills by improving the technical competency, employability, entrepreneurship, research and higher studies in their domain.
  • PEO 4:
    Students will develop effective communication and interpersonal skills for becoming professional / entrepreneur, team member and leader in diverse environments in multi-disciplinary areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  • PEO 5:
    Students will be instilled with an attitude for lifelong learning through professional approach and self-study.
