INNOVATION DAY REPORT 29.02.2020

Department of Bio-Medical Engineering

Department of BME celebrated innovation day on 29.02.2020. The teaching and non teaching staff and students assembled for a formal session at 9:00 am. The HOD of BME Department addressed the importance of innovation in biomedical engineering and the significance of national science day. Subsequently the third and second year students were accommodated in their classrooms and the student coordinators took over the session.

During this session (9:15 am to 10:30am) videos on TED-MED talk, Innovations in artificial organs and telemedicine were played for third years. For second years videos showing the importance of their curriculum, innovation in biomedical field were played. After each video the student coordinators interacted with the students, shared their views, asked questions and rewarded right answers with gifts. The student coordinators initiated discussion to identify the real world problems, think of solutions to nurture out of the box thinking and facilitate innovative product development.

The project batches were directed to the Integrated Circuits laboratory to display their innovative ideas and projects for the next session (10:30 to 12:15). Team of faculty members evaluated the displayed project to select the best three ideas. The display was kept open for visitors up to 12:15pm.

After lunch break, sessions were opened for First year BME students. Videos on introduction to Bio medical engineering and the automatic wheel chair project developed by our department .They visited the project display and interacted with the seniors.

The day closed with the announcement of best ideas and distribution of certificates to the winning teams of the “Arduino programming contest” held for third years earlier this week. The faculty and students had an interactive day to nurture ideas which may lead to future innovations.
