The Department of ECE is functioning right from the inception of the college in the year 1995. The main objective of the Department is to impart quality education to the undergraduate and postgraduate students in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Department has well qualified faculty with experience in both Academia and Industry. The staff and students are members of various professional bodies like IEEE, IEI, ISTE, IETE etc.
The department has produced more than 50 University ranks and has been ranked as the (top ECE engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu). The students are well trained to acquire good academic, employability and life skills. Most of our students are placed in leading core industries and MNCs like Tech Mahindra, Jasmine Infotech, L&T, Hexaware. Our students have also received various awards such as Best ISTE Student Award, Dr. Kalam Young Achiever Award etc.

The UG programme in ECE is accredited by NBA. The department has Anna University recognized research centre from the year 2015 and has produced 3 doctorates and 20 candidates are pursuing Ph.D. The department has IEEE Student chapter and IEEE communication society.

The department has state of the art laboratories like Optical and Microwave, VLSI, Embedded Lab, Signal Processing, etc. Dedicated research lab with latest softwares, equipments and advanced kits are available for scholars to have an opportunity to pursue and gain in-depth knowledge on their areas of interest.

The department has signed 20 MoUs with leading industries like Mavujay, Smartant Technologies, AGIIT, Ielektron Technologies, Breathe Electronics, Four Steps Training Solutions Pvt Ltd, SHAN Software Services to enable excellent Industrial and Institutional interaction. Workshops, seminars, industrial visits, guest lectures are organised in association with the industries.

Many Consultancy projects total worth of Rs. 20,00,000 like “Design of switchable Band pass filter for unmanned aerial vehicle applications” and funded projects total of worth Rs.15,00,000 like “Early Lung Cancer Diagnosis Using Web Based Technology” has been successfully completed by the department faculty members.

Staffs, Students and Scholars of the department have published more than 200 papers in various reputed, Scopus Indexed, Web of Science, SCI Indexed and Annexure I journals such as Radio Engineering, Australian Journal of Basic and Applied Science etc. Department faculty members are also reviewers in reputed journals such as Journal of Applied Research and Technology, The Applied Computational Electromagnetic Society, International Journal of Electronics Letters etc.

The Association of ECE (AECE) organises an yearly symposium named “INCENDIO -Bring out the fire within” and various other technical events like Project expo, Paper presentation, Circuit debugging, Technical quiz, Technical connections etc which helps the students to showcase their technical excellence and leadership abilities. Apart from academics, students also actively participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities in state and national levels. Our students have represented the College in state and national parade during Independence day and Republic day celebrations.

Hearty welcome to the department of ECE at Jerusalem College of Engineering (Autonomous), Chennai. Since the inception of the department from the year 1995, we served the student community with hundred percentage commitments. In the year, 2004, post graduate course of Applied Electronics is introduced to the department. To meet the research and development requirements, the Anna University approved as a research centre to admit the students to pursue Ph. D.

The department of ECE is accredited by NBA continuously for last 15 years. It has the IEEE student chapter and IEEE communication Society and conducts various curriculum and co-curricular activities.

The department have well experienced and highly qualified faculty members form all the domains of technology. The department has 324 UG students, 36 PG students and Ph. D scholars.

The department is equipped with 9 laboratories with a clear focus on imparting practical knowledge and hands on training. The department is facilitated with smart class room, seminar hall and each class room with ICT facilities.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is an evergreen branch focusing on the fundamentals of electronics, components and equipments, which are essential for design and development of IOT and embedded system, communication engineering and automated systems. Its curriculum is designed with inter-disciplinary subjects to meet the requirements of all domains of engineering.

The department emerges to integrate sensors, internet of things, artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning and programming skills various software platforms to achieve consumer needs, societal and environment safety requirements. This branch of study is pioneer in setting trends to new design and development. More innovations and inventions are happening with the support of electronics and communication engineering. All start-ups across the world include the technological development of electronics and communication engineering without which no products are sustainable. This branch generates more industries and more jobs directly and indirectly.
